Description of the Programme
Today the term “textiles” is not just considered a synonym for clothing and home furnishing textiles. Due to the vast progress in development, the field of textiles has advanced to become one of the hi-tech sectors of global industry during recent years. Their versatile functionality has rendered these innovative materials indispensable for technical applications, ranging from automotive to aerospace industries.
The Innovative Textiles study program provides students with a profound foundation in innovative materials science (fibers, yarns, knitted, woven and non-woven fabrics, finishing chemicals) and modern processing technology (surface engineering, finishing). This know-how lays the foundation for mastering materials engineering requirements such as optimizing processes regarding the manufacturing and finishing of textiles, while considering technical, economic and ecological aspects.This study program prepares students for com¬plex engineering tasks in textile and related industries. In fact, our textile engineering graduates are in high demand by industry and government, for a variety of careers in research, development, production, and management, both nationally and internationally.
The Innovative Textiles study program has an interdisciplinary curriculum drawing on diverse science and engineering principles. The program’s core subjects, which include extensive laboratory exercises, are complemented with appropriate electives to provide a curriculum with a broad base of fundamental engineering courses leading up to two specialization options. Participation in laboratory work by students is an integral part of the curriculum. Students develop a unique background, which allows them to pursue undergraduate research, internship experiences, and design projects. The program offers small class sizes with individual care from faculty.
About the Course
Practice-orientation, internationalization (focusing on India) and the intelligent use of resources are at the heart of teaching and research at Hof University, which currently offers more than 30 bachelor and master degree programs in Business, Computer Science and Engineering. Our campus in Münchberg offers a unique education in Germany because of the relationship between the economy and the Textile and Design programs. Companies of upper Franconia also benefit from the centers of excellence and institutes at the University. The three research institutes concentrate on information systems, materials science and water and energy management. Our Graduate School offers full-time further education degree programs. The Bavarian-Indian Centre for Business and University Cooperation, which is affiliated to the University,boosts cooperation between Bavaria and India.
