Dr. G. Ranganathan is a graduate in BE (Hons) in (Mechanical Engineering) from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, M.Tech (Production Engg) from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Diploma in Bearing Technology (Spindle Bearings) from RHP England and PhD in automobile journal bearings from Bharathiyar Univ. He has been the top scorer in studies in schooling, undergraduate & PG. After an illustrious stint as Senior Executive in leading auto part firms, he is now running his own ventures under the name ROVER as the CMD of Neu Fricmat P Ltd & Rover Components Limited, Coimbatore making various automobile parts.
He has 28 years of wide ranging manufacturing experience in automotive accessories and metal cutting machinery, having held top positions for long, both at PRICOL & ROOTS, Coimbatore. He was the Vice President & MD respectively of these two leading auto parts companies. His involvement and interest towards Special Purpose Machines for low cost high volume parts manufacturing is industry recognised. Proficient with new product development, customer care, business development and new project management, he has a flair for adoptive and fundamental design of auto parts to suit customer needs. Cost control and innovative manufacturing practices is his core competence.
His individual distinctions are: Rank holder in Madras Univ & IIT Chennai during his study. Winner of All India Design competition & Awards from Institution of Engineers (India) twice for the best designs made, Hindu-Hitachi selection for training in Japan (1983-84), DJ Award for managerial Excellence by CMACoimbatore Management Association (1996). He had received the FIE Foundation Award from IMTMA for the best machine design, Outstanding Quality and Localisation Awards from Hero Honda and Best Business Partnership Award from the Govt. of Italy for the development of Piaggio business.
He has accumulated vast experience by international travelling for study of facilities, methods, systems, collaboration and Technical Agreements, Joint Ventures, etc., to Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Korea, Israel, U.K., the USA, China and many other nations.
He has served as Member of Technology, Southern Region and National Executive Committees of ACMA, Technology Review Team Govt. of India (DST), Transactions Selection Committee of SAE, USA, Expert TeamSERC School on Precision Engineering for Govt. of India, Dept of Science and Technology, Technical Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council, TIFAC, Govt. of India (DST), Academic Council of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Arts College, Research Advisory Board & the Governing Council of PSG and Board of Studies in Bharathiar Univ, VP of Coimbatore Mgmt Assn. He has served as Tech Adviser of G.Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, as Univ Nominee in the Academic Council, PSGTech and in the EC of SITARC, SIEMA, CII & COINDIA. He is also holding the Membership in premier bodies like SAE, ISA and SME. He authored around 60 Technical Papers.
